On May 30th, 2019 at 6pm, the Girl Scouts from Troop 7145 along with family and friends, visited the Lone Star Wing for a night of aviation education and sharing the mutual passion for learning. Education officer Ed Smith and Operations officer Jimmy Page introduced the girls to the Comemmorative Air Force and the Lone Star Wing as well as providing a basic overview of the principles of flight and aircraft control before adjourning to the LSW hangar for a visit with the Stearman. Col. Page gave the group a quick history of the aircraft and demonstrated some of the concepts he spoke about during the short lecture on principles of flight. Col. Smith and Col. Page gave each interested girl a personal tour of the cockpit and many pictures were taken.
It was a great night to educate and inspire the next generation of women and at least a few of these young ones were VERY passionate about aviation and history.
